Manual/Book Scanning
Our scanners are amongst the most sophisticated in the market. The software provides a single one touch process. The software enables the scanned images to be cleaned up after the initial scanning process. This involves running them through the de-speckling, cropping, de-skewing and realignment process to obtain the best results. Each scanned manual is then individually inspected prior to final release.
Manual/Book Indexing
After the book/manual scanning process, for a fast and efficient search, we can create index the plans by the following information from the Front Cover or as required;

Conversion
After the book/manual scanning process, the images are merged and converted to a PDF document. There are several different types of PDF documents available today: PDF-image, PDF-Normal (searchable - level 1- best effort), PDF-Normal (searchable - level 2- 99.95% accurate)
Bookmarking
With books it is better to
create "book-marks" from the
Table of Contents. The bookmarks provide simple and easy way to
locate a specific topic without the confusion of hundreds of hits from
a full-text search. The most common is two levels of
bookmarks: Chapter/Section (Heading level 1) and Subsection
(heading level 2)
Storage Media
Around 14,000 A4 size pages can be archived on a standard CD or over 140,000 A4 pages can be archived on a standard DVD. The CD/DVD can be accessed from any PC, Laptop and MAC, the images can also be imported into any Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
Free Retrieval, View, Print and E-mail Software
We can also supply a FREE Search engine as part of our Scan A Manual services to our clients on every CD, so all you need to access your manuals/books is a PC. It is that easy!
The
DB/SearchWorks retrieval software is a useful tool which can help you
instantly search for books by any of the different indexes which are
listed above. Our Retrieval software is very user friendly and no prior
training or installation is required. It runs from the CD or if
required we can provide a network version of the software so
manuals/books can
be shared and searched across the network or even the Intranet.
